Administrative Support Assistant

Cara provides Administrative Support at the National Office on a part-time basis, Wednesday to Friday.

Her role is to provide support and manage a range of moderate to complex national office administrative work assignments in support of the National Administrator and National Office staff in order that they can focus on increasing participation in sport by people with an intellectual disability nationwide. She manages the entry of athlete registration data on Special Olympics GB database, and communicates with membership accordingly, amongst other duties.

Cara is a huge sports fan and has always been passionate about sport enabling development as well as its ability to unify people from all walks of life and of any ability at a local, national, or global level. Cara spent some time on sabbatical to work on projects in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil during the World Cup in 2014.

Prior to joining Special Olympics Great Britain, Cara worked as a departmental manager at a national children and young person’s charity and still acts as a mentor to a number of the young people she used to support there as their high-risk outreach worker; has interned with various sports for development charities including being involved with the initial set up of a safer life initiative in Trinidad & Tobago. Cara previously worked as a research consultant after obtaining an undergraduate degree in Spanish and Portuguese.
