Matt Dodds

Matt is a member of the Athlete Leadership Team.

Matt enjoys his responsibility because it ensures he is able to get his voice heard and likes to support his fellow Athlete Leaders.

Athlete leadership is important to Matt because it helps give him the confidence to make sure his voice is heard. He also believes it helps improve Special Olympics GB.

Matt encourages others to take part in Athlete Leadership because of the experience you gain through the opportunities. “It helps you get experience in presentations and in meetings, as well helping you with your future career, in interviews etc. It will bring you lots of confidence in your life as well as making you feel like you’re important and people are definitely listening to you. With Athlete Leadership everyone gets the chance to speak as well as being heard.”

Matt’s greatest achievement is competing for Special Olympic Great Britain in Los Angeles in the World Summer Games in 2015.

Matt now wants to focus on helping out other athletes and help to them motivate them, give them confidence by sharing his own experiences. Matt's role model is his Uncle Phil who sadly passed away back in 2015.

Matt’s favourite food is Carbonara and in his spare time, Matt loves playing darts, going to the gym in and spending time with my friends and family.
