Training
As part of our commitment to training and developing our volunteers we will be updating this space regularly with the most up to date information on opportunities that we feel may be suitable for volunteers.
Here you will find a mix of free and chargeable training opportunities delivered by a range of partners.
Buddle – This is an online free learning and support resource to strengthen the skills that clubs and volunteers have, to ensure their continued development. Training that Buddle provide can be found here and include topics such as Engaging your community, Future Planning, Fundraising, Leadership and Volunteer Experience.
Disability Inclusion Hub – The Activity Alliance have created this tool, to help you see how inclusive and accessible your organisation is when meeting the needs of disabled people. The tool contains a number of key questions designed to help you understand how inclusive you are, and where changes can be made to improve your offer. Using the tool is quick and easy and is likely to take around 10 minutes. Afterwards you will be provided with resources to support you moving forward.
UK Coaching – Whatever your role - coach, facilitator, instructor, leader, teacher or trainer - if you're helping people to be active and improve, UK Coaching are here for you. They host a range of weekly webinars on different topics aimed at increasing your knowledge in certain areas.

SGA ‘Sports Governance Academy’
The Sports Governance Academy offers a range of free and valuable resources which are designed to help clubs or organisations get to grips with all aspects of sports governance.
Discover how to implement good governance practices and download resources to help raise standards, meet and exceed compliance goals and use governance as a tool to drive success in your club/programme or organisation.
Resources include everything from safeguarding, through to managing meetings effectively and learning about sports governance processes.
Role Descriptors
Please see below the volunteer role descriptions for Special Olympics Great Britain voluntary committee roles within an accredited club/programme. This will help you to identify the requirements for roles and support in volunteer recruitment.
Safeguarding and Welfare Officer Training
If you hold an Safeguarding and Welfare Officer role within one of our clubs and programmes and are looking for some training opportunities, UK Coaching are currently running their Time To Listen workshops which are a fantastic workshop and gives a really good introduction to Safeguarding training, or equally acts as a very good refresher tool.
