Safeguarding and Welfare Policy

Our policy, adopted in 2021 and reviewed annually, sets out how all staff (paid or unpaid), volunteers, athletes and unified partners should recognise and respond to allegations or concerns of abuse, exploitation or neglect of Special Olympics GB athletes, as well as outlining the safeguarding procedures that will keep our athletes safe.

The policy reflects the latest sector standards, best practice, and relevant key safeguarding roles and contacts within and outside of Special Olympics GB.

In addition to the above Safeguarding Policy there is the new Easy Read version of the Safeguarding and Welfare Policy. The policy has been developed with the help of Special Olympics Athletes and is the start of a whole host of Athlete friendly resources.
