Participation Programmes
Participation in sporting activity, training and competition is important to help people with intellectual disabilities become physically active, develop sporting skills and more importantly build confidence and friendships.
At Special Olympics GB we are committed to supporting our athletes to remain as active as possible for as long as possible, through the development of specific programmes focused on Inclusion, Health, Wellbeing and Fitness. By creating these programmes, with our athletes in mind, we hope to improve the lives of our athletes, supporting them to achieve their goals both on and off the field of play.
In line with our strategic plan, Inclusion in Action, Special Olympics GB will be launching several bespoke participation programmes, in the near future, for our accredited programmes and our athletes.
These programmes will include: Fitness, Healthy Athletes, Young Athletes, Impact and Evaluation programmes, as well as Unified Sports which are all designed to build more inclusive communities supporting our regions and clubs to help our athletes stay active, healthy and enjoying their sport.
Please keep an eye on this page for more information and details about our participation programmes and how you can get involved.
