Special Olympics City of York athlete Matthew Brough features in this week's episode of Special Olympics' international podcast Inclusion Revolution Radio, hosted by Novie Craven.
Tennis player Matthew won a gold medal in Men’s Singles and a Bronze medal in Mixed Doubles at the Berlin 2023 Special Olympics World Games. He also earned the title of York Sport Young Disabled Sports Person of the Year in both 2019 and 2022 and, with his doubles partner and fellow athlete Emily Clarke, won a Community Pride Award in 2023.
Matthew has achieved a level 1 tennis coaching certification and dedicates his time to teaching the sport to young people and adults with disabilities. As an athlete undertaking the Athlete Leadership Programme in 2024, he has given several motivation speeches talks since his Special Olympics World Games success, which is something that he is keen to grow further.
