Special Olympics Great Britain (GB) is delighted to announce the launch of its 2025 Competition Support Grant, aimed at helping its clubs create more prestigious opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to compete in sporting events.

Building upon the success of previous years, the 2025 grant seeks to expand the number of and the quality of sanctioned competitions across England, Scotland and Wales, building on the 75 events that were delivered in 2024.

Accredited Special Olympics GB clubs are encouraged to apply for a grant of up to £1,000 to support the delivery of a national sporting competition. It will also continue to provide grants of up to £500 for a regional competition. Applications can be made online now, with a deadline of 31 March.

Rachael Crack, Competition Development Manager at Special Olympics GB, said: “We recognise that there is a huge appetite from our athletes to have more opportunities to compete, across a variety of sports, and we want to help.

“To support this, we’re looking to build on the success of the previous grant by continuing to offer support for regional events.

We’re also very keen to grow the portfolio of national events, to create a complete competition pathway, from regional to a Special Olympics World Games, and add even more prestige to the competition calendar outside of the World Games cycle.
