Shain Lewis
Shain is the first Welsh athlete to have joined the Athlete Leadership Team. Shain is a tennis coach and also coaches Multi Sport for Special Olympics POWYS.
Shain has always always been passionate about leadership and he loves encouraging and helping others to inspire to be the best person they can be. "I feel very proud and open about myself as a disabled athlete and I would encourage others to think about leadership opportunities for them".
"My greatest memory would always be when I represented team GB in the World Summer games in Athens 2011. I was so proud and will never forget this wonderful experience. Being able to say ‘I play tennis for team Great Britain’ - I will never forget how proud I was to tell the world that. Not only did I represent my country but I was also selected to do the closing speech on behalf of all athletes. I also met the prime minister on my 19th birthday at 10 Downing Street."
Outside of sport Shain enjoys playing on games consoles and also going for walks to different places and paddle boarding.
Shain cites his tennis coach, Chris Hill, his Mother, Audrey and tennis superstar Rafal Nadal as his roles models, who've all inspired him to keep going.
Shain would love to keep competing globally and also focus on his coaching. He hopes to inspire others to compete and achieve their own personal goals in life through the passion of the sports they love.
