Adam joined the Special Olympics Great Britain movement through his love for tennis.
He started playing the sport at the age of 12 after being inspired by Sir Andy Murray’s gold medal-winning performance at Wimbledon, during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Ten years later, Adam was playing on the hallowed turf of the All England Club after qualifying for the LTA Play Your Way to Wimbledon Learning Disability finals.
Adam, who lives in Folkestone, completed his Athlete Leadership training in 2023 and has spoken how being part of Special Olympics GB has helped change his life. He hopes that, by being elected to the Athlete Leadership Team, that he can help other people with intellectual disabilities get involved in sports.
His proudest moment with Special Olympics GB is winning a gold medal in the Mixed Doubles competition, alongside fellow Athlete Leader Lily Mills, at the Berlin 2023 Special Olympics World Games. He also competed at the National Summer Games in Bath in 2013 and Sheffield in 2017.
Adam plays between five and seven hours of tennis each week at Polo Farm Sports Club in Canterbury and competes regularly in the LTA learning disability competition program. He is also an Assistant Coach and wants to gain his own coaching qualifications and run tennis sessions in Kent for people with intellectual disabilities.
